Two Dogs that Loved my Son

A Couple of years ago my Son was in the La Grande area and he stayed in a home that had two dogs, Morris and Toby.  They were both full of energy and would run around the house jumping on all the furniture when my Son would come.

Toby a lost Brussels Griffon

My husbands niece found a little Brussels Griffon. She put posters all around the area and no one claimed him. He is blind and the vet felt probably around 7 years old. He had very long toenails and fleas. He is now staying with us and is a very nice little dog.

English Bulldog Mugs

This English Bulldog was our 1st dog when I was a kid. Mom was afraid of dogs so dad thought this dog would cure her! The worst thing I remember this dog doing is biting the tax collector in the seat of the pants when he was inspecting our property.

Happy Life's Abundance Customer

I recently received an e-mail from one of my Life's Abundance customer's praising the dog food.
"For the past 8 months, I've been feeding our Maltese dog, Tap, a very good brand of dog food. A few weeks ago, we got a bag of Life's Abundance dog food to try out. I've still been feeding Tap the old dog food just to get rid of it but the other day, he finished off the last bowl except for a little handful....I thought he had probably had enough to eat for awhile. I was leaving for a couple of hours so I opened up the new bag of Life's Abundance and filled the bowl. He walked over to it, sniffed it a couple of times and started chowing down! Then, he did what he always does when he gets a treat. He got a big mouthful of dog food and ran over to his blanket in the bedroom and ate it. Then he ran back to his dish, got another mouthful and ran back to his blanket and at it. He did this several times, until half the bowl was gone! Tap loves his new food and best of all, it's good for him! I would recommend this dog food to anyone who wants their pet to live a long and healthy life. :)"

Snuggles

I saw Snuggles by the road when we went to visit my friend Denise. She ask her neighbors about him, and it turned out they wanted to give him away. He was a feisty little Yorkshire Terrier with a spunky personality!
Sambo would be laying quietly resting. Snuggle would come along and run circles around him, growling softly as he went around, and around, and around. This went on for several minutes until Sambo had his fill of this little punk. All of a sudden Sambo would spring to life and throw him down, grab him and shake him around, growling ferociously! Snuggle would be terrified and lay there on his back, waiting for it to end. Sambo would leave. Snuggle would continue to lay there on his back. In a little while he would very cautiously and slowly look around, and then get up. Soon he would go and find Sambo and this would start all over again!

Charlie Brown and his Pal the Cat

Charlie Brown soon after he came to live with us.

The two of them slept together in this dog house until the cat died one night. This cat taught Charlie Brown to love all cats. When we would get a new kitten the children would introduce them to him. At first they would be scared of him but with in a few minutes the saw he liked them and the became fast friends.

Gretchen the Second

A poor photo but she looked like a goat. A few years after getting rid of our other goats my husband got my son another goat. He named her after his first goat Gretchen. My son was a little older so his responsibility was to milk her twice a day. He became very good at it and sometimes he would feed the cats that gathered to watch by squirting the milk into there mouths. One time a few of his cousins came to visit and he took them to the barn for some fresh milk, "open your mouths", squirt squirt. Gretchen the Second was also a Nubian.

The WInter of the Big Freeze

The Winter of 1989 was the coldest winter I have seen on the Oregon Coast since moving down from the Yukon. That winter we had 4 inches of snow then the weather warmed up enough to hail then the cold hit. The temperatures fell under zero that night and the next morning we awoke to a sheet of ice. The girls ran outside to play in the new "snow" and promptly fell down. They where slipping and sliding around when there brother called out to the "let me show you how it is done" running out the door he met the same fate. The cold snap lasted over a week causing much trouble, slick road and frozen pipes but the children had a blast. Winter break was extended a few days.

Sambo in the snow.

The three children had a great time using the toboggan I brought from the Yukon. They spent all day going up and down the hill with breaks for hot chocolate. In the evenings they would go out and toboggan in the light of the moon.

That winter we ran out of wood in the wood shed next to the house so our son would pull the toboggan up to the barn and fill it with the wood we stored there.

Pussy Willow and Chocolate Chip TIger

Pussy Willow was my oldest son's cat that he got as a kitten. He was a little gray ball of fluff looking much like the pussy willow.

Pussy Willow playing baby.

I think he enjoyed the bottle more then the baby bed.

Chocolate Chip Tiger when he was grown. Looks like he was enjoying the sun.

New Kittens

Over the years we had many cats that we raised from kittens. The neighbors always had a nice supply of kittens they were trying to get rid of so we helped them out when we could. The kitten in front of my son was named Chocolate Chip Tiger by the girls.

Moe's First Winter

The first year of Moe's life we had a little snow fall. Moe had been tied out on his run when it began to snow. He was very excited to see white stuff falling from the sky. We had a great time watching him chase the snow flakes and try to bit them.

The Pit Bull and the Doberman

Our two medium size Terriers, Charlie Brown and Sambo had many adventures together. We lived out in the country and had a few neighbors around. The people that lived across the creek had warned everyone about their chained dogs, a Pit Bull and a Doberman. They would attack animals and people. Meaning, stay away......dangerous dogs!!
One day my husband was outside, when he noticed Charlie Brown and Sambo take off running down our driveway. Looking to see what was happening, he noticed the Pit Bull and the Doberman loose on the road. He watched amazed as Sambo chased the Doberman up the road, and Charlie Brown chased the Pit Bull down the road. The Pit Bull turned into a driveway and hid behind the blackberry bushes. Charlie Brown, feeling proud of himself, turned around and strutted proudly back up the road with his head held high. The Pit Bull peeked out from behind the bushes, and then it was like he tip toed, seeking up on Charlie Brown. He got behind him and let out a growl. Charlie Brown flopped over on his back, and then the Pit Bull turned and walked away. It was almost like he was laughing. Charlie Brown walked up the road toward home, and then up the driveway, with his head down and his tail between his legs. When my husband spoke to him, he just continued dejectedly to a hiding place in the wood shed.

The Cat that raised Charlie Brown

We got the girls two Siamese Cats but one of them died before Charlie Brown came. This is the one that would take Charlie Brown under its care.

They loved dogs. Here they are cuddling with a dog we took care of for a few months.

More of Moe!

Moe loved to be in the kitchen when I was cooking. He would jump up and hit me in the back of the knees all most knocking me down looking for a treat.

Beautiful September day!

Moe the Dog

My oldest Son bought Moe for me. My husband named him after Moe in the Three Stooges. He was a Yorkie-poo/Poodle mix and a bundle of energy. He really loved my oldest Son and when ever he would come over he would run in circles and do a little dance to express his joy. The grandchildren spent many happy days with Moe. Dress up day with the Grand-kids.
We all loved Moe and felt terrible when he disappeared one Halloween Night.
